There are so many things I will miss about the Hillary campaign … not least of which is the resurgence of the Pantsuit.  Ladies, how did we allow ourselves to bury this glorious contribution in the back of our closest for so long?  Long live the Pantsuit!

Speaking of burying things in the back of your closets, you may be like me and have one or two (or ten) suits or business outfits that have been gathering dust for one or two (or ten) years.  Maybe you have changed careers – or started working from home – or look a little different than you did a few years ago.  And maybe you don’t need that suit anymore.

You know who does need that suit?  A lot of ladies.  Maybe you think women should help women advance in the workplace.  Maybe you call bullshit on Trump’s claim that the reason why women don’t earn as much as men is because they don’t do as good of a job.  And maybe you are worried that this next president is not going to do enough to help ladies in the workforce out – and you want to do a little bit to help.

Well, one easy way to help build up the pantsuit nation (and it doesn’t even require a credit card!): donate an old suit to Dress for Success.  Their mission? “To promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support, and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and life.”  Wherever you live, there is probably a career center not far away.  I will be swinging by our local center today to drop off a few things that are ready for a new home – easy peasy.

Bonus – you are helping grow the pantsuit nation!

Double bonus – when you are feeling bummed about the gender pay gap and what might happen to that gap in the next few years (like, that it may get bigger), they have an inspiring part of the website on stories and testimonials.   Little acts of growth, small acts of resistance against male-dominated fields.

So keep rocking those pantsuits, and let’s help our sisters do the same!
